Another beautiful day for a hike. We've done many hikes so far conditioning for the hiking merit badge. We were hoping to delay the Merit Badge for an ok from the powers to be in regards to the COVID pandemic. But we keep getting stalled, so today we start our first 10miler.
Mielie is the only one who has not done any part of Timothy Lake...so she was in for a surprise. We started at the PCT at hiked north along Timothy Lake. It was a warm day so we voted to follow the same way back vs a mountain bike trail that had a lot of sun exposure on the way back.
Timothy lake was a little cloudy which was kind of disappointing, but it wasn't horrible. Rumor has it there's an algae bloom. Thankfully it didn't affect Little Crater Lake and it was the same beautiful deep blue that it usually is. The hike bike was great. The boys were super supportive of those that were struggling and did a lot of cheering on. I don't even think that she noticed that time flew and the hike was uphill on the way back.
Because of COVID19 Little Crater Lake Campground was closed, so when I gave the tour to Mielie who hadn't seen it we found that people have destroyed the place with their garbage. It saddens me to no end how people can be so destructive and don't care about how they are destroying nature. Instead they think other people should clean up after them... I wish I could get people to understand.
