Mielie, Cathy and Chey have never hiked Silver Falls so this had to be on the list this year. The weather was cool, and there was a fair amount of traffic for a COVID pandemic. But it had to be done. We did our part by stepping off the trail and turning our backs to people as they passed. We smiled and were friendly as well.
The perimeter trail we took to gain miles was VERY unmaintained and steep, but it was a fun adventure and I'm glad that we got it done in the beginning. The stairs weren't as bad as we remembered, I think our Legs might be conditioned. :) We ran into some trail runners on the perimeter trail where the trail was more maintained, I'm glad we saw them before it got to steep. The drop down to the Upper North Falls was rather steep, I couldn't imagine running down that. But they did a great job.
Overall it was a great hike, Mielie struggled with the last couple of miles but did great. She didnt eat breakfast which left her dragging a bit... note... don't skip breakfast before hiking. Steve joined us for the last few miles and got a total of of 7 + miles in as well. We almost missed him as we were taking a side shoot as he was passing. Thankfully he saw us.
