Twin Lakes/Frog Lake - 1.3miles
February 13th – Twin Lakes Trailhead/Frog Lake (Snowshoe)
Time: Hit the trail around 2:30pm and got back to the car
around 3:30pm
Attendance: Me, Sage & Cheyenne
Distance: 1.3 miles (.53 miles in and back)
Difficulty: Moderate (only because of the difficulty of
trying to navigate with snow shoes.)
Not a good
day for the kids. Cheyenne
was wonderful getting ready to go, but Sage struggled about leaving the house.
Once we got to the trail, the kids saw the snow and wasn’t very interested in
gearing up. Ugh. After we were all geared up and started on the trail, Cheyenne refused to walk.
She wasn’t in the mood, and we had to stop every 10feet. It took us 40mins to
get to the half mile mark, before we could turn back. Sage on the other hand,
was great during the hike. No problems what so ever, once we started going.
The hike
itself really was a waste of time. It was packed snow until about .3 miles in.
Then the snow started disappearing. We eventually had to take our snow shoes off
and just walk to the the .5 mile mark. The good news is that I installed a
geomap app on my phone to use on our hikes. It seems like a great little app, I
was able to figure out our elevation, how far we hiked, distance, and where the
trail is located, as well as how fast we are going. Unfortunately, I did not
push the right button to record our hike to save and post. But, that’s ok. Its
part of the learning process, and since we really didn’t do much, there wasn’t
much to record. So I will save it for next time.

| This is much more fun than going for a walk. |
